Obituary of Badrzaman Salimi

Badrzaman Salimi

Barbara Salimi, age 84 of Collegeville, died Tuesday, January 16,, 2024. She was 84.

She was born in Iran on July 20, 1939.

Barbara Salimi was the wife of a Five Star General and was a Five Star General herself.  She was strong, a fighter and overcame significant obstacles in her life with honor and great success.  And she had a soft side when anyone needed it.  She was a loving, kind and caring woman, beloved by the friends and families whose hearts she touched. She had the voice of a songbird, sang beautiful songs and was always the life of the party (and very difficult to beat at Rummy).  Her dress was impeccable, classy, never forgetting her final touch of red lipstick.

Barbara  loved children and the unfortunate, always with compassion and empathy. It was her wish to help children around the world who needed it the most. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Save the Children https://www.savethechildren.org/us/donate-monthly-childrens-charity . Please help us "pay it forward" and keep our memories of Mr. Salimi alive.

She is survived by Atoussa, Azita, Maya, Emma, Sam, and Sara. Her final resting place is beside her husband Matthew “Mahmoud” Salimi, in the General Rochambeau section of the Washington Memorial Cemetery in Valley Forge Park.

In March 1780, Rochambeau was selected by French King Louis XVI to command the army being sent to America. In August 1781, Rochambeau joined Washington for the journey to Yorktown. Rochambeau commanded the French forces while Washington commanded the combined American and French army.

The success at Yorktown was very much a result of this expertise and represents her support for her husband, his military leadership skills, commander, father, husband, and grandfather.

Barbara will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

Arrangements by Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 West Main Street, Trappe, PA, (610) 489-7900.
