Obituary of Dr. Robert P. DiTizio

Dr. Robert P. DiTizio, age 70, of Collegeville, PA passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Robert (Bob) was born in Philadelphia, PA, the eldest son of three children of Frances (n. Certo) DiTizio and Henry DiTizio. He grew up in Prospect Park, PA and attended Interboro High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from Widener University and medical degree from American University of the Caribbean. He completed his residency at Brown University before relocating back to Pennsylvania, where he began and finished his medical career. Bob was well loved by both staff and patients.

He was someone who knew how to live life to the fullest and had an analogy for all of life’s situations. As a second generation Italian American, he was proud of his heritage. Bob had many great interests, but his family, music, and helping others were his top three. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Family dinners, specifically grilling steaks and making white spaghetti, were a beloved pastime. Family trips to the beach in Avalon, NJ were also a cherished favorite. And every year, he looked forward to taking his son, Peter, to the Annual Car show in Philadelphia, PA.

Music was a close second. Anyone who knew Bob  knew how passionate he was about playing the guitar. He took any opportunity he could to play for others. He not only played the guitar, but taught himself the keyboard as well.  He loved listening to many genres of music and talking about music.

Bob, or as many knew him, “Dr. Bob”, was a well known physician for 32 years and loved helping others. He knew it was his calling in life and was always available for a phone or house call. He was passionate about helping others both professionally and personally, and would often do whatever he could when someone needed help.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen G. DiTizio and their four children, Lauren D. Giannini (Gerald W. Giannini, II), Erica D. Hayes (Joseph P. Hayes, III), Robert "Peter" DiTizio, Jr., and Meredith DiTizio; brother, Richard DiTizio (Phyllis DiTizio), and sister, Carol Dalessio (Joseph Dalessio).  He is also survived by six grandchildren, Gerald, Roman, Warner, Amato, Joseph and Quinn.

His Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM from St. Eleanor's RC Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA 19426.  Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church.

Interment will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family would appreciate memorial contributions made in his name to: American Red Cross.
