Obituary of Richard M. Price

Richard M. Price, of Upper Providence, passed away on May 20, 2024 at the age of 84.

Richard was born on March 30, 1940, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Walter M. Price, Sr. and Margaret (Peggy) Hemmerle Price. He was a graduate of North Catholic High School.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Jean R. (Biedermann) Price; his two daughters, Karen (Lee) Benson of Harleysville and Amanda (Matthew) Wright of Collegeville; his grandchildren, Ashley (Matthew) Benson Martino, Kelsey Benson, Alexandra and Trystan Wright; and great-grandchildren Jackson and Olivia Martino. He was predeceased by his brother Walter M. Price, Jr. and his sister Bernadette (Price) LaLena.

A proud Air Force Veteran, he served as a radio interceptor operator in Germany. He went on to a successful career as a self-employed insurance salesman before retirement. He also served the Horsham community for 12 years as a district justice.

Richard enjoyed time with his family, listening to a wide variety of music, driving around with the top down on his sports car, reading the Wall Street Journal, savoring his wife’s gourmet meals and deep sea fishing at the Jersey Shore. His retirement home in Naples, FL was his “paradise.” His wish was for a life filled with “peace, joy and love.”

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24, at St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 647 Locust St., Collegeville, PA 19426. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
