Karl honorably and proudly served his adopted country in the United States Navy, extending his service during the Cuban missile crisis. He was a founding member of the charitable organization Forgotten Children of Haiti which has continuously provided meals, education, and medical assistance to hundreds of children in his distressed native home.

In addition to his cherished parents, Karl was preceded in death by his brothers Max G Bayard and Pierre-Richard G. Bayard, as well as his treasured in-laws Felix and Marie-Therese Garescher.

Karl leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years Maryse (Garescher) Bayard, devoted children - son Karim G. Bayard and daughter Mijanou B. Horne, son-in-law Stephen N. Horne, and his 3 adoring grandchildren Drake A. Bayard, Skylar G. Bayard, and Nicolas S. Horne. Karl is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Patrick G. & Yanick Bayard, Jean-Bernard G. & Patricia Bayard, Marie-Claude (Max) Bayard, and Shirley (Pierre-Richard) Bayard, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews, in addition to dear friends who he also considered family.
