Well, I only knew "Roy" since 1994 when I was called to pastor Community Fellowship Church. Though at first he was a rather crusty guy and didn't want to hear anything "religious", he was humbled several years ago when he fell ill and began to thoughtfully mellow out. I remember when he pulled into the church parking lot and asked me to pray with him about his illness. I was glad to of course. We talked some and I asked him if he wanted to finally get thing right with God. He said he couldn't think that God would be interested, but he was hopeful. I shared the gospel of Jesus about God's kind Grace to save us from due punishment for not loving God and other sins, and yes Roy did pray with me to believe on Jesus for the forgiveness of sins and to be accepted into God's heaven some day. I saw him slowly change--though one immediate change was that he never did swear in my presence again. I am very hopeful of seeing him, because of God's promises to those who take Him seriously in humble faith. I liked Roy too, especially when we would talk together now and then since, til he passed. I am especially glad to have met his family--they are great! And thankful for his kind care-givers.
