It was my honor to meet and get to know Mary 8 years ago when I sponsored my husband and brother when they attended RCIA classes at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish. Mary assisted her husband, Deacon Al, in teaching the classes. The genuine love they shared for the Lord and each other was truly inspirational to us all. Mary instantly became a good friend and mentor to me personally. We shared a camaraderie due to our nursing careers. Even though she was retired (although, once a nurse...) and I was (just tired) still working at the time as a GI nurse, we shared many stories about our past experiences, both happy and sad, while working in the field. I often asked for her advice on spiritual, personal and career issues which she always gave with a beautiful smile and a warm hug. Mary had the special gift of making us all feel her genuine inner warmth and love. I will always cherish the time I had with her and will miss her very much. Deacon Al, Joe and I send our sincerest and deepest condolences to all. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Mary will be missed dearly by many. Please accept my sincerest condolences. Mary was so good to me when I was a little girl. I will never forget her kindness. We were both blessed when we connected on FB a few years ago. Additionally, we had many good chats on the phone. She is now a brilliant star shing in the sky with her parents. She is a tremendous loss to her family but heaven’s gain. Go réití Dia an bóthar a hanam. ( May God prepare the way for her soul.)
